Keloid Scars
Keloid scars are overgrowths, that are formed of connective tissue and appear on damaged skin. They can be localized everywhere, but usually occur on chest, back, shoulders and face. The cause is unknown, however there are certain factors, that may contribute to keloids formation:
• genetic predisposition
• wounds inflammation
• hormonal changes
• injuries
• immunosuppression
Keloids are benign, but sometimes can cause itching, pain and discomfort in patients. There are variety of treatments, that have different effeciency depending on a case:
• drug treatment
• hormonal treatment
• cryotherapy
• laser removal
• surgical incision
Keloids have tendency to come back after the treatment, that’s why it is so important to do a proper treatment, to avoid negative consequences.
