  • Urticaria

    Urticaria is an allergic skin condition, characterized by appearance of red or skin-colored palpating bumps on the skin, oral cavity, throat, ears and etc. Symptoms usually include itching, burning. Urticaria usually lasts for hours, but sometimes can last up to days. Causes of urticaria are different:
    • cold, sun exposure
    • food
    • medicine
    • insect bites
    • internal diseases ( worms, gastrointestinal disorders, thyroid disease, viruses, cancer and etc)
    In some cases, more severe form, called Quincke’s angioedema can occur, which is very dangerous and should instantly be treated. 
    Diagnosis is usually simple and based on clinical picture. Treatment includes avoiding the allergen, eliminating the cause and taking antihistamine medicine.
    Treatment of urticaria should only be performed by dermatologist and allergologist.
